Laura PD

Lithuanian born, London based artist exploring emotion and relationship with mind through colour.

Whilst Laura has been painting throughout her childhood and adolescent years, it wasn’t until the world went into lockdown in 2020 that she started to try to explore her own anxiety through colour combinations, texture and patters in abstract art.

Drawing inspiration from her undergraduate studies in Psychology, her paintings portray an alternative side to often stigmatised emotional states, showing beauty in unique experiences that we go through, however uncomfortable they might sometimes feel. Laura believes that art can help us to embrace how we feel and accept who we are.

By juxtaposing thick brushstrokes with a light touch of running paint, translucent layers with bold patterns, Laura’s work represents the interplay and fragility of emotions, feelings and thoughts going through an anxious mind, as it tries to explore and comprehend the world around it.

As a vocal Mental Health advocate, she is dedicated to raise awareness of what living with anxiety is like, aiming to normalise the concept of self-care and rest, whilst at the same time -  empower others to be confident and speak up about how they are feeling.
